And as you know more safe timing more power so with the water you get race gas timming advance without the race gas price only problem is you only want the advance with the water on hence the problem. Without advanceing the timing you are actully braking even you can turn up the boost and not detonate because of the cooler air charge but you lossing combustion because of the anti-detonate in this case water so its a tradeoff. Now if you can lower the air charge then advance the timing to combat the waters anti detonation you have the best of both worlds.
